Rodrygo Has Made His Decision Amid Liverpool, Arsenal And Tottenham Transfer Links - Report

Liverpool transfer target Rodrygo intends to “stay at Real Madrid” and fight for his place, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Madrid-based publication AS claims that the decision has effectively been made for him because there have been “no significant offers” for the Brazilian so far this summer.

They say there has been some recent interest from Tottenham in Rodrygo, who has also been heavily linked with the Reds and Arsenal.

However, no bids have been tabled, despite Real signalling to potential suitors that they would consider selling the forward for €90m (£78m).

Liverpool have prioritised Isak

The fact that the Merseyside club have cooled their interest in Rodrygo is no surprise. Despite there being space for him on the left flank following Luis Diaz’s departure, the main target is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Talks between the Reds and the Magpies are currently at a standstill after Arne Slot’s side had an opening bid worth £110m rejected for the Swedish international.

Considering how much it could cost to sign Isak, you can appreciate why the Premier League champions are not willing to spend nearly £80m on Rodrygo too.

More transfer funds could soon be available

While recruiting Isak and Rodrygo in the last few weeks of the transfer window may seem fanciful, Liverpool’s coffers could soon be strengthened further by the departure of Darwin Nunez.

Al-Hilal are believed to have offered a contract to the Uruguayan, and if the striker does agree to make the switch to the Middle East, the Reds could receive a substantial windfall.

£60m could be raised from Nunez’s sale. If both he and Diaz do depart in the same summer, it stands to reason that another forward (in addition to Isak) could be signed. At the moment, though, it seems unlikely that it will be Rodrygo.
