Everton are now expected to turn their attention to Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, with a deal for Southampton's Tyler Dibling stalling, according to a report from talkSPORT.
Grealish, described as 'world-class' by former Man City striker Paul Dickov, endured a difficult 2024/2025 campaign at the Etihad Stadium, struggling to break into Pep Guardiola's starting XI on a regular basis. A departure in the summer transfer window now feels inevitable after Grealish was omitted from City's Club World Cup squad back in June.
Guardiola opting against taking Grealish to such a big competition says all you need to know about what could be next for the England international. Everton have been linked with a move to sign Grealish, but he's one of many targets as it stands, with the Toffees also working on a deal to sign Dibling from Southampton.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Everton could now make a move to sign Manchester City winger Grealish, with the English forward on their list for the summer transfer window. Grealish is expected to leave City before the market closes after falling out of favour, and Everton may have to move on from Dibling if a fee with Southampton can't be agreed.

David Ornstein reported on Tuesday that Everton have informed Southampton that they are exploring other targets alongside Dibling as they are currently unwilling to match their asking price. The Saints are looking to receive a fee in the region of £45m with £5m in add-ons, while they are also hoping to include a 25% sell-on clause in the deal.
Dibling appears to be Everton's primary target as it stands, but it's a smart move for them to be succession planning in case they are unable to get a deal over the line in the coming days. There might be concerns around Grealish's wages and his struggles last season, but there's no doubt he's a player with plenty of talent.
