Dortmund 'plotting quadruple transfer swoop' for Chelsea wantaways

On the move: Carney Chukwuemeka

Chelsea Football Newsletter

After spending over £200million on eight first-team arrivals this summer, the west Londoners have turned their attention to sales.

They have already recouped some £120m through the sales of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, and Djorde Petrovic alone, but show no signs of stopping the pre-season fire sale.

According to reports in France, Chukwuemeka will be the next Chelsea star packing his bags.

Round two: Carney Chukwuemeka is set to return to Borussia Dortmund after impressing on loan

The 21-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at the Signal Iduna Park, scoring once in ten Bundesliga appearances, and is set to rejoin Dortmund in a permanent £22m deal.

That move is expected to be completed this week, but it will not be the extent of Dortmund’s dealings with Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea academy graduate George enjoyed a breakout season last year, scoring three goals in 26 appearances, but is considering his options after the Blues signed a raft of attacking talent this summer. The club has reportedly sanctioned the 19-year-old winger’s exit as he looks to secure more regular first-team playing time.

Should he join Dortmund, he would serve as a replacement for Jamie Gittens, who moved to Stamford Bridge in a £55m deal earlier this summer. RB Leipzig are also interested in his services as a potential replacement for Xavi Simons.

Disasi is not thought to be in Enzo Maresca’s plans for next season, and was among the nine transfer-listed first-team players to be left off a new squad list published on Monday.

The same is true of Veiga, who was sent on loan to Juventus in January, mere months after joining Chelsea from FC Basel. Bayern Munich have also reported interest in the Portuguese this summer, as have sides in the Saudi Pro League.

Dortmund are looking to strengthen this summer after finishing fourth in a substandard Bundesliga campaign last season, 25 points adrift of champions Bayern Munich. They were knocked out of the Club World Cup at the quarter-final stage by Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Chelsea, who only reconvened for pre-season training on Monday, are under pressure from UEFA to come out of this transfer window with a "positive transfer balance" as part of punishments for breaching financial rules.
