'I love it here': £50m player says he definitely isn't leaving Man City

With Manchester City hoping to redeem themselves next season, a majority of their squad would perhaps like to stay and help them bounce back.

Pep Guardiola will especially need City’s old guard to step up and show the ropes to their new signings such as Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

One of the players who must remind the world of his undeniable pedigree is Ilkay Gundogan, who is looking forward to next season after his disappointing return to the Etihad Stadium.

With Bernardo Silva being appointed as Manchester City’s captain, he too will be determined to show his critics why he remains one of the best players in the Premier League.

John Stones shuts down exit talk and confirms Man City stay

John Stones is another player who especially will be motivated to have a season to remember as injuries have halted his rise since he won the treble in 2023.

Manchester City News revealed that Pep Guardiola’s side were prepared to sell Stones due to concerns about his fitness.

However, Stones has now shut down all the speculation around his future by confirming that he will stay at Manchester City next season via HaytersTV: “I get told this, I don’t see a thing so it’s laughable to me but I understand why people do it and there’s nothing to comment on it.”

“I love it here, nothing’s happening and I’m here to fight and play and hopefully, win some trophies.”

Man City wonderkid could replace John Stones next season

Stones’ contract at Manchester City expires in 2026 and the upcoming campaign could be his final one as a Sky Blues player.

However, Vitor Reis could potentially replace Stones, who Manchester City signed for £50 million as journalist Andre Hernan revealed a clause exists in his imminent loan move to Girona that means he could be recalled by City at any point.

Manchester City rate Reis very highly and in case the 31-year-old struggles to remain fit or is simply out of form, perhaps they could count on the Brazilian to replace him.

For the time being, Sky Blues supporters will be hoping that Stones remains fit and reclaims his status as an elite centre-back.
