Leeds United look set to sanction another loan exit for Joe Gelhardt this week as he nears a return to Hull City in the Championship for the second time.
As Daniel Farke lays out his plans for the Premier League season ahead, there are a handful of names not featuring in his plans thus far.
In the attacking department, Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Mateo Joseph are all likely to secure moves at some point soon.

Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt nearing Hull City loan return
Gelhardt has never been short of Championship loan interest since drifting out to the fringes of Leeds’ squad under Farke.
Last season, Gelhardt headed out to relegation strugglers Hull City in the second half of the campaign, where his five goals helped keep the Tigers in the second tier.
Despite Ruben Selles, the man who pushed for ‘Joffy’s’ signature, being sacked at the end of the campaign, it appears as though Hull are still eager to reunite with the 23-year-old Leeds man.
Hull Live’s Barry Cooper has revealed that the Tigers are in advanced talks to land the striker again on loan, currently under an embargo barring them from paying a fee for a player until January 2027.

Gelhardt himself is claimed to have told Leeds about his eagerness to return to the MKM Stadium after fast becoming a favourite during his half-season spell under Selles.
Now under the management of Sergej Jakirovic, Hull have made a number of signings already for no fees, either landing players on loan or for free to stave off further relegation fears, with Gelhardt and Oli McBurnie likely to become their newest additions up front.
A key wage insight is also revealed in the above piece too about Gelhardt’s current earnings:
“It’s believed Gelhardt’s salary doubled immediately following United’s promotion to the top flight, owing to a clause in his Elland Road contract, but common ground has been found to facilitate the move,” Cooper wrote.
Good move for Joe Gelhardt to leave Leeds United again for Hull City
You could see that Gelhardt really enjoyed his time at Hull last season, not only with the fanbase adoring his work in attack, but also with former Wigan youth teammates in the squad too – those being Charlie Hughes and Kyle Joseph.
He’s got no future here and with Hull, he’s about to get another good chance to showcase his talents at Championship level, where he could feasibly hit double figures if he finds the same consistency as he did earlier in 2025.
The frustrating thing with this move to Hull is that if their embargo is upheld for a further two windows after this one, a permanent deal won’t be forthcoming in the summer of 2026.
