Leeds United have been offered Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi
Inter Milan are ready to sell Mehdi Taremi this summer as they seek to bring in a new striker ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Leeds have been linked with a move for the Iranian forward in the ongoing transfer window, and the Whites could be in the mix for him.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Taremi has indeed been offered to Leeds through market intermediaries this summer.
And it has been claimed that Leeds are not ruling out the possibility of acquiring the veteran striker before the end of the window on September 1st.
Inter want to sign Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund, but they need to sell a striker, and Taremi is the player they want to offload.
“Leeds have been offered the chance to sign Mehdi Taremi from Inter Milan, and it’s not one they’re totally discounting”, Bailey told TBR Football.
“He’s a high-calibre player and he’s available. Inter want to move him on because then they can have another go at signing Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.
“So in an odd way, Leeds could actually help their rivals out.
“I do think there’s interest in Taremi, they know he’s a good striker, and they’ll have advice from Red Bull. Leeds have one of the best scouting networks in the world available to them now.”
Taremi cannot be the only striker Leeds sign
The 33-year-old Iranian forward is an experienced old head who knows how to score goals and could be a good option for the Leeds squad if available for a reasonable fee.
However, Taremi can’t be the only striker Leeds signs, as he is unlikely to be the forward who can lead the line for the Whites in the Premier League for an entire season.
Leeds need a younger number 9 who will shoulder the burden of being the starting striker, while the Inter forward could be a great option from the bench.
