Sometimes a player’s attitude when they want to leave a club is not the best, Leeds United have seen this first hand in the past few seasons. Daniel Farke is currently handling a similar situation.
Wilfried Gnonto wanted a move a few years ago, with his agent keen on an exit. Many Italian clubs were interested, but none were able to submit an offer to Leeds’ standards. So Gnonto refused to come to training in hopes of securing an exit. When time had passed and nothing was materializing, the young winger apologized to Daniel Farke before earning his way back into the team.

It seems like history has repeated itself with Mateo Joseph this summer. The forward failed to report to pre season camp after asking for a transfer. He was spotted in the stadium during Leeds’ friendly against Villarreal. Head coach Daniel Farke had this to say about the Spaniard’s future:
“He wasn’t ready to play the training games and we can’t then afford him in the group, which is excited and focused and concentrated on preparing for Premier League level. We can’t afford someone in the group who is perhaps distracted or not fully committed. At the moment, he is not in my plans.”

Leeds were linked with Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil last week.
There was only interest but no official bid or proposal has been made. The club is still on the lookout for alternatives after missing out on Igor Paixao. Now, TMW is reporting that the 26-year old is training on his own amidst rumours of an exit from Fiorentina.
The report suggests that that player’s ”time is up” this summer.
Will Leeds make a bid?
There has been no word from England if the Italian even is a concrete target for the Whites. Other clubs in Serie A like Sassuolo and Torino have also been credited with interest this summer.
It has been reported that Sottil is no longer in the club’s plans for the upcoming season. The winger could be available for sale this summer, especially with his contract expiring next summer.
Sottil is not good enough
Leeds United should absolutely not be spending millions of pounds on wide attackers who have scored just three league goals in three seasons is a cause for concern. As it stands, it is very likely Jack Harrison starts the season as first choice winger if no new deal for another attacking player is contributed zoon.
