Report: Aston Villa now eyeing move to sign ‘prolific’ £56m striker, club ready to sell

Aston Villa could look to spring a surprise move for Portugal and Paris Saint-Germain star Goncalo Ramos in the coming months, according to reports - with the Villans having had a quiet transfer window so far as they aim to secure Champions League football once again next season in the Premier League table.

Ramos, 24, joined PSG two years ago from Benfica after a superb season in Lisbon, where he scored 27 goals in just 47 games in all competitions, as well as seven goals in just 10 games for the Portuguese national team. However, he's found minutes hard to come by and that could see him move on, with Villa interested in a deal for the 'prolific' star's' services.

The PSG striker has struggled for minutes under Luis Enrique, a notion that has been especially enforced after winning the Champions League back in May, and now he's looking for a move away from the Ligue 1 champions.

Joining PSG for an initial £55.5million back in 2023, he's been unable to cement his place in the starting lineup and has often found himself on the bench behind more established options at the Parc des Princes, but he still managed to score 19 goals in all competitions for Enrique last season which has shown his worth.

With that in mind, Villa are one of the sides who have been alerted to his availability, and they see Ramos as a 'golden opportunity' to add a proven goalscorer to their ranks alongside Ollie Watkins, as an alternative to Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, who they also like - as well as Nice star Evann Guessand who they have reportedly reached a 'full agreement' with to come into their squad.

Unai Emery is thought to be 'assessing' a move for the Portugal international to bolster his front line as a long-term addition to the squad, though it could cost him a lot of money. Whilst PSG are open to a sale, they won't want to lose much in terms of a financial hit, and an option-to-buy could be on the cards as well as a permanent deal, though the report suggests that would have to come close to the £55.5million fee they acquired him for.
