Offer made for £26M striker linked to Leeds United

Leeds United have just over a week till their Premier League opener against Everton. This past week has gone well, but recent developments mean the club have to speed up their plans.

Leeds missed out on signing Igor Paixao, as the Brazilian chose a move to France. He was unveiled by Marseille this week. The Whites are still in the market for a new center forward. But Daniel Farke says reinforcing the position is not something he is personally too worried about, but he expects the club to address the situation.

“I’m not crying for too many numbers anyhow but it’s obvious in all offensive positions we definitely need reinforcements to improve us. We will see what the outcome is in reality.

“But it’s not about the numbers; it’s more about the quality of the players that we bring in. They need to be improvements to what we currently have.”

Leeds’ number one target for the center forward position seems to be Rodrigo Muniz. But a recent report suggests that he could sign a new contract at Fulham.

Last week, reports from Italy emerged that Leeds and some other Premier League clubs had interest in AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk. Reports suggested that the Ukrainian international could be on the move this summer.

According to AS, La Liga side Villarreal have submitted an offer for the striker. Roma have rejected it as the Italian club are looking for a permanent sale.

Player’s agent insists on summer stay

The situation is now a bit confusing, as Dovbyk’s agent Oleksii Liundovskyi came out last week to say that his client is focused on staying at Roma this summer:

“Artem is focusing on preparing for Roma’s new season,” Liundovskyi said. “Right now, that’s all he’s thinking about, and rumours like this in recent days have only created confusion for the boy.”

Leeds need to find a striker before the window closes

Reports within the club suggested that there were plans to add another striker since the window started. And now that some Leeds players are set to leave, the club may become desperate to sign one. Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph seem to be the main names linked with exits this summer.

At least one attacker will need to be signed to replace the depth when either, or both, of them leave.
