Former West Ham United full back Vladimir Coufal will be playing his football in Germany next season after agreeing to join TSG Hoffenheim.

The 32-year-old, one of the stars of West Ham's Conference League win in Prague has signed a one-year contract with the Bundesliga side little more than a month after his five years spell in east London came to an end.

Andreas Schicker, TSG's sporting director confirmed the free transfer capture of Czech international Coufal. "After the serious injury and the long-term absence of Valentin Gendrey, we had to be active in the transfer market again in order to responsibly fill the position of right-back for the coming season," he said.

"With Vladimir, we're signing a player who fits the profile and can immediately close the gap. He is an experienced international and has played in the English Premier League.

"Due to his experience, he will hardly need any time to get used to the Bundesliga. We are convinced that he will ideally complement our team with his excellent mentality and individual quality in the coming season."

And Coufal, who was unable to agree a contract extension at West Ham despite having expressed a desire to remain in London was equally delighted to join Hoffenheim, who finished just one place above the relegation zone last season.

"After my years in England with West Ham United, I'm now looking forward to a new challenge in the German Bundesliga," said Coufal regarding his move to the Kraichgau.

"The talks with TSG were all excellent and I didn't have to think twice for that reason. I am convinced that the team has great potential and I want to help us achieve our goals as a team in the coming season."

Everyone at KUMB wished Vladi the very best of luck with his new club.
