Luka Doncic has officially committed his future to the Los Angeles Lakers, and it didn’t take long for a franchise icon to show his support.

The Slovenian superstar signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension this week, keeping him in purple and gold through at least 2028.
The deal includes a player option for that final year, when Doncic could become eligible for the richest contract in NBA history.
Former Lakers big man and Spanish basketball legend Pau Gasol took to social media to congratulate Doncic, while also acknowledging his work off the court.
“Congratulations on your extension, happy for you and proud of the efforts your foundation is making to break down the barriers that too often stand in the way of young athletes chasing their dreams,” Gasol wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Gasol’s message was a response to an announcement by the Luka Doncic Foundation, which revealed a $5 million commitment toward supporting young athletes around the world.
