FALLS TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A former Philadelphia Eagles player has been selected for a different kind of roster.
Brandon Hughes is on his way to becoming the Falls Township Police Department's newest officer.
He spent five years playing pro football at the cornerback position, including three years with the Eagles.
Following his playing career, Hughes opened a gym, where he says he was encouraged to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer.
"It's just all about giving. I get to have the opportunity to continue to give myself and to serve the community," said Hughes.
He has also coached and mentored cadets as a volunteer with the Falls Township Police Department's Youth Police Academy.
The former Eagles began his 10-day orientation with the department on August 4.
