Ryan Grubb spent 2024 with the Seattle Seahawks as their offensive coordinator as longtime boss Kalen DeBoer left Washington to be head coach at Alabama.
But while Nick Sheridan served as the Crimson Tide’s OC and quarterbacks coach in 2024, DeBoer moved him to a co-OC role for 2025. That opened the door for Grubb to leave the Seahawks after 1 season to join DeBoer’s staff in Tuscaloosa, taking over an offense that finished 8th in the SEC in total yardage but featuring dynamic wide receiver Ryan Williams.
On Tuesday, Grubb talked about his excitement for the Tide’s offense in 2025.
“I’m really excited about the way the O-line’s playing, the physicality that they’ve been showing, and the leadership that (center) Parker (Brailsford)’s been able to have.”
While adding Brailsford, a standout OL who played under DeBoer and Grubb at Washington, has been key, the Tide’s front five will be led in part by junior Kadyn Proctor, a second-team All-SEC pick in 2024.
“KP … it’s been so fun to coach him,” Grubb said. “He’s a hungry guy that obviously is a super talented player and (has)God-given ability, but he works really hard and very diligent about his process. So seeing that, and then just already the improvement in the quarterback room fires me up.”
