Green Bay Packers: Running Back Problem in Practice Gets a Relief as 3rd Year RB Emanuel Wilson …

Head coach Matt LaFleur and the rest of the Green Bay Packers are racing to be ready for their pre-season games as the new season looms but their preparations are hindered by injuries to their running backs.

MarShawn Lloyd is out with a groin injury while Josh Jacobs had to miss time last week due to abductor injury.

Add Emanuel Wilson to that list. But good thing for them, he will be out only in the remaining few practices.

The third year running back, picked up by the Packers from Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2023, missed two days of practice last week.

Wilson said he is now recovering.

“It’s just a bone bruise. I’m recovering well,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

“No contact. I just landed funny. I’m just glad it wasn’t anything too bad like it seemed on film.”

The injury was thought to be a scary one even LaFleur feared they will miss him significantly based on the first look of the contact.

“It was extremely scary,” LaFleur said, “but I feel like we dodged that one. So that is some really good news.”

Feeling scared about Wilson possibly missing games is understandable as the 26-year-old RB has become one of the most improved players last season.

Jacobs is returning to the line-up and is the undisputed main tailback but Wilson has found his niche as the back up.

He played 17 games last season and recorded 502 yards on 103 carries with four touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes on 14 targets for 48 yards.
