All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they report back for duty.
Chelsea are now back at camp having returned for pre-season training at Cobham following a couple of weeks off after the FIFA Club World Cup. The Blues have a couple of friendlies to look forward to, starting with Friday’s date with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Blues have already been busy in the summer transfer window, and we are expecting to see plenty of exits and a couple more signings before the window slams shut at the end of this month. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.
Rogers off the table
Chelsea were said to be eyeing a potential deal for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers this summer, particularly if they could manage a big sale like Nicolas Jackson, but there appears to be bad news on that front.
According to GiveMeSport, Villa continue to insist that they will not sell Rogers this summer It’s reported that it would likely take around £100million to get the West Midlands side to reconsider their position. That will be too rich for Chelsea’s blood this summer.
Chukwuemeka latest
The Athletic have reported that Borussia Dortmund remain keen on re-signing Carney Chukwuemeka as Chelsea look to offload the midfielder this summer.
The report from Sebastian Stafford-Bloor and Simon Johnson read: “Borussia Dortmund remain interested in securing the permanent transfer of Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, who spent last season on loan at the Westfalenstadion. Chelsea have no interest in loaning Chukwuemeka out again, and would only consider a permanent deal for the 21-year-old.”
Dewsbury-Hall headed out
Chelsea are also expected to offload Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is set to join Everton on a permanent deal. The Athletic reported through Patrick Boyland and Simon Johnson: “Everton are in talks with Chelsea over the permanent transfer of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for an initial fee of £25million. As reported by The Athletic last week, Chelsea will only consider a permanent sale and placed a valuation of £30m — the fee they paid Leicester City last year — on the midfielder, while other Premier League clubs have also made enquiries.”
Maresca said of Dewsbury-Hall back in March: “I am very happy for Kiernan. He is now much better compared to the start of the season, probably because he is understanding his role. He is working very well every day in training, even if he doesn’t get many minutes in the Premier League. It’s not easy to work every day with the same intention, but he is working fantastic. He showed how important he can be for us, and hopefully he can be even more important from now on.”
Dewsbury-Hall said in April on his lack of Premier League game time: “It’s been a learning curve. I’ve had to adapt and grow as a person and a player, but I expected that. I knew I’d have challenges and successes but, all in all, it’s a season where I’ve learned a great deal. Whenever I’m called upon, I’m ready. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that’s the case.”
