Man Utd now ‘confident’ of completing Sesko deal ahead of Newcastle after overnight update -…

Manchester United are growing confident that Benjamin Sesko will join them if they can reach an agreement with RB Leipzig, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed.

The Slovenia international is understood to have made it clear that Old Trafford is his preferred destination this summer, despite also receiving strong interest from Newcastle, who have submitted an improved bid.

Man United are now focused on striking a deal with Leipzig, as the Premier League giants believe Sesko is waiting for a breakthrough in talks.

Newcastle’s offer to Leipzig remains the ‘stronger’ of the two bids after the Magpies increased their proposal to at least €80m (£68m) earlier this week.

Sesko

Jacobs, writing on X, has revealed that Sesko has made it ‘clear’ he wants to join Man United and is now waiting for the clubs to agree on terms for his departure:

Man United are targeting Sesko as their number one priority as they look to further strengthen Ruben Amorim’s attacking options this summer.

The Red Devils have already welcomed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as their two marquee senior additions and have been on the lookout for a new number nine to complement the duo.

Sesko has emerged as one of the most promising forwards in Europe during his two seasons at Leipzig, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists in 87 appearances across all competitions.

United’s opening offer for the Slovenian is worth just under €85m (£74m) – comprising an initial £65m plus around £8.9m in performance-related add-ons.
