FC Porto have ended their interest in Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior. This comes after the club failed to agree on a price with the Gunners.
Porto cool interest on Kiwior as Arsenal stick to price tag
Jakub Kiwior’s future remains unclear as FC Porto step back from the race to sign him, as per CaughtOffside.
The Portuguese giants had made the Polish international one of their key defensive targets for the coming season. But, Arsenal‘s €30m asking price has been too much for the club to swallow.
Porto were serious and viewed Kiwior as a versatile player to bolster their defensive depth. Although, they were also doubtful about his lack of guaranteed playing time with Arsenal. He played in 17 league matches for the Gunners last season. This limited game time and price tag, has led Porto to put their pursuit of the player on hold for now.
There are no talks taking place between the two clubs at the moment. Porto are moving on for now. They are looking at other, more affordable targets ahead of the new season.
Player open to move but future remains unclear
For Kiwior, leaving North London this summer could be a welcome thought. With the addition of Cristhian Mosquera, Arsenal has even more depth at the back. That means Kiwior’s opportunities of getting regular minutes are even slimmer.
Reports suggest the Polish international is looking for an opportunity to have more regular playing time. That is particularly considering his international career.
For now, Arsenal’s ask is the same and unless that changes, clubs such as Porto are unlikely to come back. That said, the transfer window is open, which means that Kiwior’s situation can change quickly. Everything depends on where the offers come from. One thing is certain, his future at the Gunners is still up in the air.
