Manchester United's pursuit of Benjamin Sesko is indicative of a club whose number one transfer priority this summer is to sign a new centre-forward.

Only four teams scored less goals in the Premier League last season but Amorim has made sure that issue has been addressed this summer.

A new centre-forward will be complemented by the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who scored 37 goals between them last season, and that should relieve some of their goalscoring woes.

Understandably United's focus has been on securing a proven goalscorer up front but once that situation is resolved, Ruben Amorim has already made United's next transfer priority pretty clear.

Amorim is keen for United to sign a dynamic midfielder who offers a bit more pace in United's engine room. Captain Bruno Fernandes is expected to play deeper this season while Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are options in there too.

But after the departure of Christian Eriksen, Toby Collyer, who is expected to leave United on loan this summer, is currently United's fourth option and it feels like that is a glaring area for improvement in the squad.

But given the focus has been on signing attacking talent, there has been little in the way of links with midfielders so far.

Valencia star Javi Guerra has been tentatively linked. So, too, has Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand who has, of course, worked under the United manager in Portugal.

Whatever route United go down, the midfield situation is definitely one to watch between now and the end of the transfer window.
