Fans at the [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) owner’s new club Hearts sang his name as he watched them open the Premiership season by beating Aberdeen 2-0 on Monday night.
That result was just what was required to back up comments about aiming for a title in the next decade and, rather sooner than that, challenging the big two of Rangers and Celtic.
In reality, a defeat in that game would not have altered those ambitions.
But it would have lessened the feelgood factor just a little.
Then came his thoughts on Albion going into what looks a quite a brave new season.
They have two major departures in Joao Pedro and Pervis Estupinan and have signings who are new to the league.
Apart from Max De Cuyper, none of those new additions have had much involvement in pre-season fixtures.
So it feels a bit like a matter of trust for Seagulls fans, especially as they see the richer clubs retool extravagantly.
Bloom is targeting silverware for the club. He has upped the stakes just a bit from his ongoing goal of top-ten for the men and top-four for the women, which has been in place since 2019.
Speaking to an in-house podcast recorded two-and-a-half weeks ago in Marbella but released in the last couple of days, he told host Glenn Murray: “We just want to kick on.
“We want to be the best version of Brighton and Hove Albion we can in all aspects.
“Obviously it starts on the pitch with the men’s and the women’s team and the academies underneath them.
“We want to perform well, make our fans happy, win as many games as we can and we want to win titles.
“We want to get into Europe but we know how difficult it is, both for the men’s and women’s teams.
“But that is our ambition and we have to always be aiming really high.
“We have to work as a team, that is the while club in totality as well as the players within the teams they are in.”
Bloom says both men’s and women’s teams could have squads which are better than ever.
There is some way to go on that for the WSL group but the work done in terms of signings for the men happened impressively early.
It must be unprecedented to have so many major additions on board even before pre-season had started.
Given they are taking their time bedding the new men in, that has to be a big plus.
Can they get into Europe again? There is a chance their first game of the season might tun out to be a six-pointer in that respect as they host Fulham.
Albion came top of what developed into their own min-league last season but it was not quite enough.
Of the sides who finished above them, they will certainly have Nottingham Forest in their sights.
Silverware? That clearly has to be one of the cups or, longer term, qualifying for a crack at the UEFA Conference League.
They have come pretty close in the past to at least giving themselves a chance of eclipsing the And Smith Must Score moment, when they came within one cleanly struck shot of a major trophy back in 1983.
Bloom accepts this goal will be tough to achieve, both in Scotland and England and both for men and women.
But a 90-year wait was ended in Belgium when Royale Union St Gilloise won their league.
After all the bold talk in Edinburgh, Albion fans will have enjoyed the message he has given about his lifelong club.
It will have been delivered with heart as well as head.
