Cardinals, Marvin Harrison Jr.
The Arizona Cardinals were back on the practice field Tuesday for Day 10 of training camp following a well-earned two-day break after Saturday’s Red & White Practice. While the on-field action was light, the return of a key offensive weapon and news about the preseason opener stole the show.

🔙 The Return of Marvin Harrison Jr.
After missing three consecutive practices due to knee soreness, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made his return on Tuesday. And he looked like himself again—no visible limitations, just Marv being Marv.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon had downplayed the absence, saying the team was “just being smart,” and Tuesday’s performance confirmed that. The Cardinals clearly exercised caution with their prized second-year wideout.
Harrison Jr. is carrying lofty expectations into the 2025 season after a relatively quiet rookie year. Still, he managed to tie a Cardinals franchise record for rookie receiving touchdowns with eight in 2024.
🏃♂️ Low Tempo, Light Workload
Tuesday’s session was a non-padded, low-tempo practice. Players were clearly easing back into the groove—going through the motions at half speed with an eye on the weekend.
But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t big news.
🧨 Starters Set to Play vs. Chiefs
Coach Gannon revealed Monday night that Cardinals starters will suit up for the preseason opener on Saturday when the Kansas City Chiefs visit State Farm Stadium.
"I told them last night they're gonna play."

That includes quarterback Kyler Murray, who hasn’t played in a preseason game since 2021. Most starters were held out last year, and Harrison Jr. himself logged only three snaps in the 2024 preseason.
But this year is different.
“Best thing for our team this year,” Gannon said.
The team is deeper. There’s less fear of injuries and more reason to let key position battles play out on the field. The offense—especially—needs live reps to build chemistry.
On the other sideline, Andy Reid traditionally plays his starters, including Patrick Mahomes, early in the preseason. Saturday night could feel a lot like a regular-season tune-up.
🚑 Several Players Remain Out
Five Cardinals were sidelined Tuesday:
Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon ruled the following players out of practice:
WR Michael Wilson (concussion)
DL Justin Jones (knee)

WR Simi Fehoko (quad)

WR Michael Wilson (concussion): Suffered during last Friday’s collision with Budda Baker
LB J.J. Russell (concussion): Injured in a violent early-camp hit with rookie Kitan Crawford
WR Simi Fehoko (quad)
OL Jon Gaines II (thumb): Injury occurred Saturday
DL Justin Jones (knee): Perhaps the most concerning absence
Jones’ injury is especially unfortunate. After signing a three-year, $31 million contract in the 2024 offseason—Arizona’s biggest that year—he’s fighting for a roster spot in a crowded defensive line room.
Missing significant time could be costly. His contract carries an $11 million dead cap hit this season and $3.2 million in 2026.
🔜 What’s Next
Wednesday: High-tempo practice expected
Fan Alert: It’s the final open practice of training camp at State Farm Stadium
Thursday: Closed practice

Stay tuned for more updates as the Cardinals inch closer to meaningful football. Saturday night can’t come soon enough.
