Looks like it’s finally happening. West Ham United are on the brink of landing goalkeeper John Victor, and things have moved fast enough that he’s now out of Botafogo’s squad for their Copa do Brasil clash against Red Bull Bragantino.
[As reported by Globo Esporte](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/botafogo/noticia/2025/08/05/em-negociacoes-com-o-west-ham-john-esta-fora-do-jogo-do-botafogo-pela-copa-do-brasil.ghtml), John has been left out so he can focus on final talks with the Premier League side. There’s even a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, and if all goes to plan, that should be the final step before the deal is done.
West Ham’s current offer is €10m, including bonuses and performance targets, [and was reportedly rejected at first](https://sportwitness.co.uk/john-textor-holding-out-as-west-ham-circle-transfer-games-as-move-edges-closer/). The previous €8m bid wasn’t accepted either, but this one apparently has opened the right doors.
Meanwhile, Botafogo haven’t wasted time. Neto, from Bournemouth, is already in Brazil to sign as John’s replacement, which says a lot about where things stand.
John’s desire to play in the Premier League has been central to the story from the start. And now, with the offer right, the successor sorted, and the player already out of the squad, it’s all lining up. At this point, it’s just a matter of paperwork.
