The stage is set for Manchester United to introduce Benjamin Sesko just like Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United are hoping to secure a deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

After completing deals for two attacking players with Premier League experience, Manchester United are in the process of adding a striker to the mix.

The Red Devils are trying to hijack Newcastle’s attempts to sign Benjamin Sesko, after making a formal offer of €75 million and a further €10 million in add-ons.

Newcastle have made two bids for Sesko thus far. RB Leipzig rejected their first offer of €75m and €5m in add-ons. The Magpies recently returned to the table with an improved bid of at least €80m for Sesko.

The next step is for Sesko to decide his future, but he has the choice of two Premier League clubs.

Leipzig have yet to react to Newcastle’s improved offer, while United also wait on a response from the Bundesliga club.

United fans will hope a deal can be agreed before Ruben Amorim’s side take on Fiorentina in their final pre-season friendly.

Man Utd could introduce Benjamin Sesko like Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund has struggled to provide goals since joining United from Atalanta in 2023.

The 22-year-old scored 26 goals in his first two seasons at Old Trafford, which has led to question marks over his future at the club this summer.

It remains to be seen if Hojlund will be at United when the 2025/26 campaign kicks off, but there is a chance Sesko could get a similar introduction to Old Trafford as the Danish striker.

That depends on whether United can secure Sesko’s signing in time for Fiorentina’s visit on Saturday.

Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Hojlund was unveiled to United fans at Old Trafford before the Red Devils took on RC Lens in their final pre-season friendly.

United fans attending the friendly against Fiorentina this weekend would love to see Sesko unveiled in the same manner, while hoping he turns out to be a greater success in front of goal than Hojlund.

This would require United wrapping up a deal with Leipzig in the coming days. The clock is ticking.

Andy Townsend excited by potential Sesko transfer

Speaking to talkSPORT, footballer turned pundit Andy Townsend provided his verdict on Sesko’s potential transfer to United.

Townsend, who claims to have watched Sesko play, believes the RB Leipzig striker would work brilliantly at United, granted he snubs Newcastle.

“He’s [Sesko] a very technical footballer,” Townsend said. “He looks very two-footed, he’s got that lovely technical and ability to strike a ball very sweetly.”

Townsend went on to add that he believes Sesko would strike a formidable partnership with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

🔥 "I'd see that being very exciting!"

🙌 "With Cunha and Mbeumo around him, I think that bodes well!"
