Wilshere eyes Arsenal return

Jack Wilshere is considering a shock return to Arsenal. The former midfielder could soon be back where it all began, this time in a coaching role.

Arsenal consider Wilshere for U21 head coach role

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up the idea of bringing Jack Wilshere back into their coaching setup. Jack is now one of the frontrunners for the club’s vacant U-21 head coach position. This news comes following Mehmet Ali’s recent move to Brentford.

Wilshere has previously led the U18s to an FA Youth Cup final in 2023. He already has experience working with the **Gunners**‘ young talent. He left the North London club last year to join Norwich City. Jack briefly served as their interim head coach after Johannes Hoff Thorup’s exit as well.

However, Wilshere’s stint at Carrow Road came to an end when Liam Manning took charge in June. With his time at Norwich over, a possible return to Emirates has opened up. As per BBC, Arsenal are seriously considering giving him the charge of the U21s.

Homecoming on the cards

If Wilshere is on the move, it will be a return for him since he came through Arsenal’s Hale End academy. He played over 150 times for the first team. The former Gunners’ player is early in his coaching career still but has confidence and a promise ahead of him. He recently interviewed for the Plymouth Argyle job but was lost it by Tom Cleverley.

Arsenal have re-focused on youth development. As a former academy player manager, Wilshere would tick a lot of boxes. He is expected to push players, such as Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who have progressed at the academy to attempt to breakthrough.

At this moment in time, there is increased excitement around a potential return for Wilshere, though it is very much early days. Most Gunners fans would love to see one of their own inside the Emirates once again.
