Alejandro Garnacho has sent Manchester United a cryptic message on social media. The 21-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford for a while now, having fallen out of favour with Ruben Amorim.

The cracks first started to show when the United boss left Garnacho at home for the Manchester derby in December due to concerns with his attitude. The Argentina international appeared to have learned his lesson, earning himself a place in Amorim's side.

Then, on the final day of the season, the Portuguese tactician raised eyebrows when he omitted Garnacho from the matchday squad. The youngster was also benched for the Europa League final, despite having started each of the previous knockout round ties.

Three days after Tottenham Hotspur stormed past United in Bilbao to win their first trophy in 17 years, Amorim told Garnacho he could leave the club. The Manchester Evening News understands that the Argentinean has been relegated to the 'bomb squad' this summer.

Garnacho, among others, has been excluded from the pre-season tour and he's been training separately from the core first-team squad. It's understood that Chelsea are interested in signing the winger, who has three years left on his contract at Old Trafford.

Earlier this month, Amorim provided an update on Garnacho. The United boss described the Blues target as a 'talented boy', who wants 'a different thing with a different leadership'.

"I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he's talented, he's a really talented boy," said the 40-year-old. "And sometimes things don't work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is.

"But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. And I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem.

"Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players. So, it's a natural thing in football."

Garnacho appears to have responded to Amorim's comments with a rather cryptic message on social media. The Chelsea target posted a picture of himself holding his shirt to his Instagram story.

It's not the first time that Garnacho's social media activity has caused a stir. During Erik ten Hag's spell in charge, the Argentine liked a post from a fan criticising the Dutchman's management.

Fortunately for Garnacho, Ten Hag accepted his apology. A few months later, however, the winger was back in the spotlight after he liked another post criticising his head coach, this time from Cristiano Ronaldo.
