Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.
While the Red Devils have yet to see their initial €85m (£74m) bid accepted by Leipzig, there is growing confidence that Sesko will join, despite also receiving an approach from Newcastle.
Ornstein claims Sesko has indicated that his preference is to join Manchester United this summer, and all parties are now aware of that, with talks ongoing to satisfy Leipzig’s expectations.
Man United have been battling Newcastle for the 22-year-old striker, with the Magpies submitting an improved bid worth at least €80m guaranteed this week.

Ornstein, writing on X, has revealed that talks between Man United and Leipzig over a deal for Sesko are advancing towards a conclusion:
Sesko’s preference to join Man United comes despite Newcastle’s willingness to pay a higher fee and offer Champions League football next season.
The 22-year-old Slovenia international has emerged as one of the most promising forwards in Europe during his two seasons in Germany, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists in 87 appearances across all competitions.
Man United are believed to have explored several striker options before advancing on Sesko, including Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea.
The Old Trafford side have already brought in forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, along with teenage left-back Diego Leon.
