Benjamin Sesko has reportedly swung the battle for his signature in Manchester United's favour as RB Leipzig ponder bids from the Red Devils and Premier League rivals Newcastle. The highly-rated striker is now claimed to be closing in on a dream move to Old Trafford in a huge boost for Ruben Amorim.
A bidding war for Sesko has prompted Leipzig into a big decision. Newcastle reportedly saw a £71million offer for the Slovenia international accepted by the German club. United are yet to see a proposal given the green light, with their current offer reported to have been around £65m plus £9m. However, Sesko is now said to have made clear to all parties that his desire is to lead the Red Devils' forward line next summer.
According to The Athletic, Leipzig are aware of Sesko's preference and are working towards securing him a switch to Old Trafford. An agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs, but it is claimed that the situation is quickly moving in that direction.
Sesko's decision to join United comes despite the fact that Newcastle were prepared to offer Leipzig more money and had the advantage of playing in the Champions League next season. The 22-year-old will spearhead a new-look United frontline next season, should his move to the north-west go through without any hitches.
Amorim has bolstered his attack with the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. United reportedly missed out on signing Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea earlier this summer, and initially explored the cost of signing Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.
The England international was deemed too expensive and so United turned their attention to Sesko.
