Liverpool have reportedly agreed to sell Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal, although discussions regarding personal terms are still underway.

The Uruguayan striker, 26, has been widely expected to depart Anfield this summer following the arrival of Hugo Ekitike. Alexander Isak is also believed to be on Liverpool's radar, despite a £110million offer being turned down by Newcastle last week.

Nunez, who netted in Liverpool's friendly victory over Athletic Bilbao on Monday, has garnered attention from clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia. A previous offer from Al-Nassr was rejected in January as Liverpool sought to maintain their attacking options. Napoli also made a move this summer, but their proposed terms did not meet Liverpool's valuation.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Hilal are nearing a deal for Nunez after reaching an agreement with Liverpool for the £61m-rated forward, who the Premier League champions signed from Benfica for a club-record fee of £85m.

It's reported that while a verbal agreement has been reached, negotiations over personal terms are ongoing. Al-Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi is said to be eager to secure Nunez, but the final decision will ultimately lie with the player.

Earlier this week, it was suggested that Nunez favoured remaining in Europe rather than moving to the Middle East. AC Milan have also expressed interest in the striker, who still has three years left on his current Liverpool contract.

Nunez has found himself out of favour since Arne Slot took over the reins at Liverpool. The player was largely used in a substitute role last season, with his work ethic coming under fire from the Dutch manager.

Slot's criticism came after Nunez missed an open goal in matches against Wolves and Aston Villa, where he was brought on as a substitute. Slot commented: "I helped him by saying you can miss a chance.

"I wasn't only hard on him. But for the second time in a row I wasn't happy with his work effort, against Wolves and against Villa. I can't accept if a player doesn't give everything. That is clear.

Despite featuring in 47 games for Liverpool in all competitions last season, Nunez only managed to net seven goals. He was limited to just eight starts in the Premier League, with Cody Gakpo often preferred in the starting line-up.

Should he make a move to Al-Hilal this summer, it could free up additional funds to bolster Liverpool's pursuit of Isak. As per talkSPORT, Liverpool have valued Nunez at around £61m, a figure Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to match.

It remains to be seen whether Nunez will feature for Liverpool in their upcoming Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace this weekend.
