Report: Nottingham Forest now won’t be able to sign £40m star until ‘end of August’

Nottingham Forest are very keen to sign Douglas Luiz during the summer transfer window.

A new central midfielder is being eyed by Nuno Espirito Santo as he looks to bolster his options in the engine room ahead of the new campaign.

Forest drew with Fiorentina last night, with Dan Ndoye earning rave reviews on his home debut.

Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha also played in the contest, which once again ended 0-0, with a common theme occurring during this pre-season.

Luiz is wanted by Forest and there is now some news that might have some Reds supporters worrying.

Forest might have to wait for Douglas Luiz

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Forest might have to wait until the end of August to get their hands on Luiz.

It’s believed that Juve don’t want to let him go until a replacement is sought, with Damien Comolli, the club’s general manager, not wanting to leave the squad short.

Luiz is way down the pecking order at the Old Lady and barely even trains with the senior ranks these days.

He made just 27 appearances for the club last season, with a large number of those coming from the bench after a £43 million move from Aston Villa.

Luiz has agreed personal terms with Forest but now, there could be a situation where the Reds have to wait to get a deal for their top target over the line.

Forest need to get Luiz in the building quickly

Having not done much pre-season, it’s vitally important that Forest get their hands on Luiz as quickly as possible.

Espirito Santo will want to get him blended into the team, with three very winnable games to come before the international break in September.

With a potential UEFA Conference League play-off to come too, Forest will hope to make sure that they have a squad well stocked in the event of facing Fredrikstad of Midtjylland in that fixture.

Edu is desperate to sign Luiz this summer and as a result, it would be a serious blow if Forest had to wait for his signature.
