On Tuesday, TNT Sports and journalist André Hernan both reported Girona have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Vítor Reis on a season-long loan deal.
AS backs it up and reports the 19-year-old will arrive in Spain on Wednesday afternoon to undergo medical tests and sign the contract with the La Liga club, after which they will make his transfer official.
Last season, UEFA prevented Manchester City and Girona carrying out transfers business between themselves as both clubs are owned by the City Football Group.
The Spanish club no longer have any restrictions and can sign players from Manchester City on loan this summer.
Reis has been limited to four appearances since leaving Palmeiras for Pep Guardiola’s side in January. His situation attracted interest from other unnamed clubs, who also sent offers to the Citizens, but he’s set to join the La Liga side.
Girona are considered as an ideal option, likely by Manchester City, for the centre-back to continue his development. The Spanish club will also help him ease into the European football.
According to AS, ‘high expectations are placed’ on the Brazilian at Girona, a club he will soon join on loan.
Cadena Ser journalist Nil Solà took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a picture of Reis on a private jet.
He’s seen with his agent, Federico Pastorello, and Solà states the Manchester City man is travelling to Spain to undergo a medical with Girona.
