Last month, there was a lot of buzz in Italy about Manchester City winger Jack Grealish’s presence in the Naples region, amidst talk of a move to Napoli.
The Englishman was on vacation in the area and excitement spread, as the Italian press also spoke to the 29-year-old’s personal driver about a potential transfer to the Italian champions.
Now, Grealish’s former Manchester City teammate Kevin De Bruyne has spoken to Corriere dello Sport about his time at Napoli so far.
When asked whether the winger has spoken to him about Napoli, De Bruyne said: “Maybe… Maybe.”
Corriere dello Sport note the Belgian laughed after saying this and this comes after Italian newspaper had spoken of De Bruyne being a potential reason behind Napoli’s interest in Grealish.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported last month that Napoli’s move for Grealish will need a salary contribution from Manchester City to be realistic. This was causing trouble for Antonio Conte’s side, who have missed out on Dan Ndoye to Nottingham Forest and are on the lookout for a winter.
They are yet to sign an alternative for the Switzerland international and if Manchester City do open up to contributing a part of Grealish’s salary, a move can yet be possible.
De Bruyne also spoke about his own adaptation to Italy and explained he’s still to bring his family over: “In England, we’re organising the move: we still have to get a house, move our things, our three children, and be ready for school in September. There’s a lot of work to do, and I’m often away. My wife, Michèle, will probably come at the end of August with the children. After ten years in England, we’ll have to get used to a new way of life, but I’m sure everything will be fine.”
