Nottingham Forest player wants transfer sorted by next week – Has huge plan for coming months

Carlos Miguel could be on the move again as he seeks more playing time to boost his chances of making Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad under Carlo Ancelotti.

[According to Globo Esporte](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/futebol-internacional/noticia/2025/08/05/carlos-miguel-prioriza-ficar-na-europa-mas-pode-voltar-ao-brasil.ghtml), the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper is hoping to resolve his future by next week. Although his preference is to remain in Europe, the report claims a return to Brazil is not ruled out, especially with the domestic transfer window open until 2 September.

Carlos Miguel has a contract with Forest until June 2028 but has made only three appearances since joining from Corinthians earlier this year. His lack of minutes has led him to request a move, and the club have reportedly responded positively, [as we previously reported](https://sportwitness.co.uk/nuno-makes-decision-nottingham-forest-player-told-to-find-new-club-despite-aspirations/).

The arrival of Edu Gaspar as a sporting executive has also helped streamline communication between the player and the Premier League side.

Now Carlos Miguel is targeting a more competitive environment where he can play regularly and enter the national team conversation. The feeling, according to the report, is that one of the three goalkeeping spots for the World Cup is still up for grabs.

The report also revisits the controversial details of his departure from Corinthians. In January 2023, the goalkeeper renewed his deal with the Brazilian side until the end of 2025, but only under the condition – imposed by his agent Giuliano Bertolucci – that his release clause would drop significantly in the final two years.

That clause fell from €50m to €4m on 1 January 2024, enabling Nottingham Forest to secure his signing for a relatively low fee.

Carlos Miguel played just 26 matches for Corinthians between 2021 and 2024. Despite briefly becoming first-choice in 2024, his departure drew criticism from fans amid the fallout of the reduced release clause.

Now, his next step depends on finding a club, whether in Europe or Brazil, willing to offer him the one thing he needs most: minutes on the pitch.
