Manchester United will have several plans in place this summer to prepare for all eventualities.
United have made two new signings so far this summer, and could be about to add a third new addition to their squad. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were signed by United earlier in the summer, and now it seems that a striker is next on the agenda - with hard work going on behind-the-scenes.
RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko has emerged as a prime target for United, as they look to add a centre forward to their squad. The Manchester Evening News understands United are now closing in on a high-profile deal for Sesko.
But what if there is a U-turn in that regard? Well, it's been reported that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson had been offered to United this summer, as well as Newcastle and AC Milan.
This update comes from a report from The Athletic, which says that Jackson could become a target for Premier League clubs if they fail to sign their first-choice striker. United were not directly mentioned - but the club have been linked with a move for Jackson in the past.
Jackson could be allowed to depart Chelsea this summer, after the west Londoners added more strikers to their squad. The signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap could see Jackson be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge before the September 1 deadline.
Despite that back-up suggestion, though, it appears to be all-systems-go for Sesko at United.
