**There have been plenty of stories of woe for Newcastle United this summer, but perhaps none have been bigger than Alexander Isak's efforts to get a move to Liverpool.**
The Sweden forward has thrown his toys out of the pram in a bid to force a move to the Premier League champions with whom he has been linked since the start of the transfer window.
Newcastle were pretty resolute at the start of the window and were sticking strongly to their 'he's not for sale' stance, but as the window has gone on and the rumours of Liverpool's intentions intensified, the player himself has started to throw his weight around.
There's still a good chance that he stays at Newcastle, though, given the club's struggles to sign a replacement, but there's still strong talk of a record-breaking deal in the offing.
Jamie Carragher doesn't see the sense in Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak

If there's anyone you'd expect to be singing and dancing for the cameras right now it's Mr Liverpool himself, Jamie Carragher, but the former Red has told Sky Sports' The Overlap that he doesn't really see the point in Liverpool going for Isak right now.
> “Listen, it will be an amazing signing. From a Liverpool fan’s point of view for myself, I don’t want Liverpool to spend £150million on Isak.“You’ve just said there he was Liverpool’s number one target and I can probably imagine that, but there is something about Liverpool buying another striker for £80million and he is going to be backup. There is something about it just doesn’t feel quite right to me.“Liverpool need numbers obviously for a number of reasons at the top end of the pitch, but when you’re saying he was the number one target, do you have any insight as to why Liverpool then went and got Ekitike?“I look at Isak. He’s obviously threw his toys out the pram once Arsenal signed a striker and Liverpool signed a striker. I’m thinking from him and his agent’s point of view, did they not tell Newcastle months ago that they wanted to move on? It just feels a little bit messy.

> “For me, when I think of Liverpool, it doesn’t look really planned. I don’t think the plan is to buy a striker for £80million then buy another one for £120million.”
Hey, Liverpool, listen to Jamie Carragher
-----------------------------------------
If you will allow us to don our tin-foil hats for a moment. It has felt like this summer has been a concerted effort from the "Big Six" to halt Newcastle at every turn. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all jumped in to beat us to signings, and Liverpool are determined to take our top striker, despite having just stolen one from under our nose.
Of course, if that were really true, it's a very costly way to go about being spiteful, but you can absolutely see how these conspiracies gain traction.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, Manchester United may have just ended their hopes of signing Isak this summer after swooping for Benjamin Sesko, but if anyone at Liverpool was watching The Overlap, take heed of what Jamie Carragher said. You're just being bloody greedy.
