RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Apparently, the Blues could still go and push to sign another attacking midfielder as well as him.
Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, 22, is still currently at Leipzig despite strong rumours about a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have reached advanced stages for Simons during transfer negotiations with Leipzig, but supporters are patiently waiting for a final breakthrough and confirmation. Hopefully, the versatile attacker, who can play as a No.10 or left-winger, will soon become the newest recruit in West London.

Chelsea will focus on Fermin Lopez after Xavi Simons
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are expected to firm up their interest in Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez once they have completed the signing of Simons.
It is explained that the Blues are preparing to bid around €60m (£52m) for Lopez this summer.
The report explains that Manchester United are interested in the 22-year-old Barcelona playmaker, but he’s a ‘top target’ for Chelsea in this window. Apparently the La Liga giants would consider substantial bids for their attacking midfielder due to their financial situation.

Fermin Lopez for Barcelona in the 2024/25 season
Back in June, it was claimed that Blues head coach Enzo Maresca rates Barcelona’s Lopez, but Chelsea failed when they offered Christopher Nkunku in a swap deal for the Spain international.
Barcelona would sanction Lopez’s departure this summer if the player asks to leave. In the meantime, he’s been playing for the Spanish heavyweights during their pre-season schedule this summer.

Should Chelsea push to sign Fermin Lopez?
If Chelsea secure the Simons signing, Lopez should be crossed off their transfer shortlist.
Even though we rate the ability and potential of Barcelona ace Lopez, 22, especially because of his versatility, we simply don’t see a spot for him in the squad at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues could go into the new season with Cole Palmer as their chief No.10, while any of Simons, Joao Pedro or Enzo Fernandez can cover that role.
Chelsea sometimes receive unnecessary criticism for their squad building because it feels like the sporting directors are finally getting things right, assembling a group with two fantastic options per position. However, spending £50m-plus on Lopez to fill out the squad is the type of deal that would deserve some heat.
