Eberechi Eze has been urged to relish the liberty he enjoys at Crystal Palace and turn down a summer switch to Arsenal.

The Gunners have consistently been linked with a £60million raid for the 27-year-old this summer, though concrete details regarding the potential deal's advancement have been scarce. Eze propelled Palace to their maiden major trophy by netting the decisive strike in their FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.

This crowned a campaign in which he bagged a personal-best 14 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions. The England international would represent Mikel Arteta's seventh summer acquisition in what has proved a costly transfer window for the Premier League outfit.

While Palace would undoubtedly wish to retain their star man, it's a move that Mikael Silvestre believes Eze should decline given the fierce competition he'd encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal defender argued the attacking midfielder enjoys an ideal scenario with Palace and would find it difficult to cement a place in the starting XI at the north London club, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to Hajper, the Frenchman said: "Eberechi Eze to Arsenal? I don't think it'd be good for him, to be honest, because there is a lot of competition and because he has so much joy and freedom at Crystal Palace.

"Going to Arsenal would, I think, be difficult because of the competition for places. But I like him a lot. Since his early days, he has been terrific.

"It's a shame he's had quite a lot of muscle injuries and he's missed some parts of the season. But whenever he's fit and ready, he is a top player."

Despite Silvestre's concerns about Eze, Bukayo Saka has already indirectly cautioned his Arsenal team-mates that they would face a battle for their spots if he arrived.

The winger has previously sung the praises of the Palace sensation and confessed he was most struck by him during England training sessions.

"Eze has been class in training," the 23-year-old revealed. "He has impressed me the most, I would say."

With two years remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park, Palace hold a commanding position in negotiations should they choose to offload Eze.

Nevertheless, it would represent a departure that would shake the squad and one that Palace manager Oliver Glasner would undoubtedly wish to prevent.

Speaking to newspaper Kronen Zeitung in his homeland, Glasner said: "Even though all the players are still here, we haven't made the most of the transfer window so far.

"As of now, I have 17 outfield players. I hope we don't lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible."
