Report: Why Chelsea are now desperate to sell Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as Joao Pedro problem emerges

It has been reported that Chelsea are closing in on another player sale as they begin to shift a number of players out the door.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has only been at Stamford Bridge for a year, but is now set to move to fellow Premier League side Everton.

Toffees supporters are very excited about signing of Dewsbury-Hall, and his performances in the Conference League in particular were evident of a player who is too good to sit on the bench all season.

However, with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia in the ranks, as well as exciting youngster Andrey Santos, opportunities looked as if they were going to be few and far between.

Chelsea desperate to sell Kiernan Dewbsury-Hall to register Joao Pedro for Champions League squad

Dewsbury-Hall does not want to leave Chelsea, however the Blues seem to have decided that recouping nearly all of the transfer fee they paid for him is too good an opportunity to miss out on.

It also seems as if the potential sale of the Englishman is going to play a big part in honouring their agreement with the European football body.

The Blues were sanctioned by UEFA for breaking financial rules, and according to BBC Sport they are needing player sales like Dewsbury-Hall to keep them onboard.

The report goes on to say that this is essential to be able to register their new signings for the upcoming season of Champions League football, including Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap.

Chelsea pushing for more player sales

In an attempt to further fulfil this requirement, Chelsea have completed plenty of sales already, with a number more being close to being agreed.

The Blues are set to announce the departures of Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu to Burnley, with both clearly being a long way away from Enzo Maresca’s first team squad.

Despite fears that they were not going to be able to complete a permanent sale, talk has arisen once again of Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Carney Chukwuemeka. The youngster started just one game for Chelsea last season.

There could still be some big name exits too. Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku both continue to be linked with a move away.
