Opta supercomputer now projects where Wolves will finish in the 2025/26 Premier League season

It is safe to say that a lot of Wolves fans are of a nervous disposition heading into 2025/26.

Wolves’ squad is currently a lot weaker than it was last season, after a number of players were offloaded in the transfer window.

Game-changing players like Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia have all gone.

They’ve been replaced with Jhon Arias, Fer Lopez and David Moller Wolfe, and the hope is that they will all come good for Wolves.

Arguably right now, Wolves need at least three or four more new signings. Fosun were said to have acknowledged the need to rebuild Wolves this summer, but so far that hasn’t really happened.

It is a crucial few weeks for the club – failure to provide Vitor Pereira with a suitable squad could result in a relegation battle.

And according to Opta data, that is already a very real possibility.

At the moment, Wolves fans generally aren’t too optimistic about the upcoming season.

The run of fixtures to start with is easier than last season, but Wolves still have some tricky tests and may be slow out of the blocks.

Today, Opta has provided its projected final Premier League table for 2025/26.

And their supercomputer has currently projected that Wolves will finish 17th in the table – just one place above the relegation zone.

Opta make Wolves the current fourth favourites to go down, doing so in 26.4% of their 10,000 simulations.

The three teams that are most likely to go down are the three newly promoted teams, Sunderland (66.4% chance), Leeds United (48.1%) and Burnley (45.9%).

The average number of points Wolves took in the 10,000 simulations by the supercomputer was 42.5.

Wolves need to make a big push in the transfer market

Not too many will argue with where Wolves are currently projected to finish.

Based on the current squad and the pattern of fixtures, 2025/26 could well be a struggle for Wolves.

But it perhaps need not be, with time still remaining to make new signings.

Wolves must now make a big push in the transfer market to ensure that the manager has the tools he needs to help the team improve.

Given how things have gone this summer a lot of Wolves fans would probably take finishing 17th and staying in the Premier League.

But it’d also be so disappointing for Wolves to finish that low down as there is so much potential with this manager.
