Everton could try to sign Raheem Sterling if Jack Grealish pursuit fails

Accustomed to playing Champions League football, it goes without saying that a loan move to the Toffees would represent a fall from grace for Jack Grealish.

However, Grealish is keen on joining Everton as he would have the chance to remind the world that he remains one of the best attackers in the Premier League.

Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that in the event that Everton are unable to sign the winger, they could make a move for Raheem Sterling, who Manchester City sold for £47.5 million to Stamford Bridge.

Jacobs revealed on the London Is Blue- Chelsea FC Podcast: “But they are looking to strengthen on the left as well, as evidenced by the fact that their top choice to do a short-term loan is Jack Grealish. And if Manchester City cave on their demands of a permanent exit for Jack Grealish and become open to a loan, then Everton will be there. And I think Grealish is their top priority on that left hand side, if they can get an experienced player on their terms.”

“But it has to be a loan for Everton. And I think it’s the same for Raheem Sterling as well. If he doesn’t find a solution, if Grealish doesn’t come off, Everton have also discussed Raheem Sterling as a possibility.”

When Jack Grealish’s loan move to Everton could happen

Football works in funny ways as Raheem Sterling and Grealish, who were once teammates at Manchester City and won a league title in tandem are now both being targeted by Everton.

However, it looks like David Moyes’ side are especially keen on signing the latter.

So much so that Everton’s plan to sign Grealish involves paying a sizeable loan fee to get the deal done.

Everton insider Alan Myers reveals that the chances of the Manchester City technician joining the Merseyside-based club only look likely during the last week of the transfer window.

“I don’t see much moving on that until the last week of the window tbh [to be honest], who knows.”

The Sky Blues will be hoping to get Grealish off their books for the season, considering Pep Guardiola complained about Manchester City’s squad size.
