Leeds United transfer plans revealed – Key targets identified ahead of final weeks

Leeds United are facing a key few weeks ahead of them as the pressure mounts on sporting director Adam Underwood to finish the transfer window on a positive note. Daniel Farke wants more attacking quality in the final third, and the club are working towards securing a few deals.

The Whites have signed seven new players since earning promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season. However, Lukas Nmecha has been the only attacking addition to the squad, and the former Wolfsburg striker joined on a free transfer early in the summer transfer window.

Leeds have spent most of the summer trying to deepen and strengthen their midfield resources, and in Lucas Perri, they have signed a top goalkeeper who feels ready to be their new number one in the Premier League next season.

However, Leeds have had no investment in the final third in terms of transfer fees, and the club now have three clear priorities before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

Daniel Farke spelt out the priorities for Leeds United

Farke could not have been clearer after the 1-1 draw against Villarreal at Elland Road last weekend that he needs more in the final third next season.

The Leeds boss indicated that the Whites are weaker in attack now, ahead of a Premier League campaign, than they were in the Championship last season.

“You could tell in the offensive area we need a bit more quality”, the manager said after their 1-1 draw with Villarreal.

“We know this.

“If you compare our offence now to the Championship offence last season, then we have lost our standout player in the second half of the season in Manor Solomon. We know we need additions in this position.

“It’s obvious in all offensive positions we definitely need reinforcements to improve us. We will see what the outcome is in reality.”

Three key priorities for Leeds

Leeds have already indicated through their moves the positions in their attack that they are hoping to strengthen in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

According to Leeds Live, signing a striker and left-winger are two of the biggest priorities for the club in the coming days, and the Whites would also prefer to sign a number 10, as an upgrade to Brenden Aaronson.

Leeds have already identified a few strikers in the Premier League and Europe they like, and have also been linked with an interest in former Newcastle and Fulham number 9, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Whites are also the only club to make a formal move for Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss, who has a £24.5m release clause in his contract.

Farke has made it clear that Leeds cannot be termed Premier League-ready as long as they do not add more goals and creativity to their squad in the coming weeks.
