Liverpool have received an approach from RB Leipzig over a potential deal for Harvey Elliott, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.
While talks are not yet at an advanced stage, discussions between the clubs are believed to be ongoing regarding the 22-year-old midfielder’s possible move to the Bundesliga.
Leipzig have reportedly identified Elliott as a direct replacement for Xavi Simons, who could depart the German club in the final weeks of the transfer window.
The Bundesliga side are in talks with Chelsea over the potential sale of the Dutch international, who may soon make way for Elliott’s arrival in Leipzig.

Ornstein, writing on X, has revealed that Leipzig have approached Liverpool about signing Elliott, though discussions remain at an early stage:
Liverpool are believed to value Elliott at over £40million with a buy-back clause included, or above £50million without one.
Elliott endured a difficult season under Arne Slot at Anfield, making just two Premier League starts and 28 appearances in all competitions.
With Florian Wirtz and Dominic Szoboszlai ahead of him in the pecking order, the 'special' England U21 star now looks set to depart alongside Darwin Nunez, who is being targeted by Al-Hilal.
Elliott impressed at the Under-21 European Championship this summer, where he was named Player of the Tournament after leading England to victory and scoring five goals.
