Belief player on verge of joining Everton – Tough stance thought to be wobbling

UD Almería midfielder Dion Lopy is thought to be on the verge of joining Everton, with the Spanish side’s resistance to a sale believed to be crumbling.

[El Mira](https://www.elmira.es/deportes/articulo/futbol/ud-almeria-punto-cerrar-tercera-gran-venta-verano/20250806104955495778.html), a local Almería newspaper, provide the details today and it looks like good news for Everton.

They report that Lopy’s future appears to be far from Andalusia, as there is strong interest from the Premier League in the Senegalese midfielder.

According to their information he’s set to pack his bags and sign for Everton soon, with the Toffees having signalled their willingness to spend €25m to get him.

That’s described as an irresistible amount for Almería, indeed for any side in the Spanish second division, and has seen their reluctance to sell the midfielder wobble.

El Mira say that barring any major surprises, they are expected to accept Everton’s offer and for David Moyes and his team to wrap up the transfer quickly after that.

It will be the third major exit for the Spanish side this summer, after selling Luis Suárez and Marc Pubill in big money deals as well.

They, like Lopy, were considered key players and the club were not keen to see them leave but money ultimately forced their hand, and it appears to be doing the same now that Everton are willing to spend it on the midfielder.
