Report: Forest ‘full speed ahead’ for £30m star two years after Edu tried to land him at Arsenal

Nottingham Forest are going all guns blazing to try and sign a player Edu likes a lot.

The Reds are in the market for a host of players this summer, with the squad looking paper-thin during a recent 0-0 draw with Fiorentina.

Anthony Elanga has been sold to Newcastle and Forest have been weakened by his departure.

Dan Ndoye signed for Forest from Bologna to fill that void, and now Nuno Espirito Santo will target strengthening other areas of the pitch.

Edu is keen to get players through the door, and one player he’s working on has been a long time coming for the club’s new Global Head of Football.

Nottingham Forest want to conclude Luiz deal

The Reds are going to try and conclude this deal quickly, although contrasting reports are doing the rounds.

It was claimed that Forest might have to wait for Luiz, but now Tutto Sport believes Edu wants to close the deal quickly.

The Global Head of Football has missed out on Luiz twice before at Arsenal, and he doesn’t want to make it a hat-trick of failed attempts.

Luiz made 27 appearances last season for Juventus, but was rarely considered the first choice following a £43 million transfer from Aston Villa.

Forest need two central midfielders

If Nuno Espirito Santo is going to play three midfielders this season, then a couple of midfielders will be needed.

Getting Luiz over the line looks like a relatively easy one to achieve, given that Juventus want to get rid of him this summer.

Luiz needs to be playing to win a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup next summer and Forest would allow him the chance to do that.

Forest and Luiz look well suited to each other and hopefully this deal can be concluded as a matter of urgency ahead of the new season.
