Douglas Luiz ‘very close’ to Nottingham Forest – Ibrahim Sangaré could go Juventus

Nottingham Forest have been making progress in their pursuit of Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.

Earlier today, Tuttosport reported Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian has reached a preliminary agreement with the Reds on wages.

The Turin newspaper also stated Nottingham Forest have intensified talks with Juve to find an agreement for loan with a €34m purchase option, which will be converted into an obligation if they qualify for Europe. The Serie A side are said to be demanding a package of €40m but the positions are getting so close it looks like this has a good chance of happening.

Gazzetta dello Sport also report Nottingham Forest should be able to meet the 27-year-old’s demands and the club have ‘considerable confidence in the possibility of reaching an agreement quickly’ with the Old Lady.

The Brazil international has struggled since leaving Aston Villa for the Turin club a year ago.

Juve decided to part ways with him and their desire would have been stronger after he refused to turn up for training at the start of the pre-season. Luiz has apologised to his teammates and returned to training but won’t stay for long.

Igor Tudor’s side, according to Gazzetta, are waiting for Luiz’s agent to present an offer from Nuno Espírito Santo’s side. The operation is expected to be a loan with an option to buy, which will be automatically converted into an obligation if certain set conditions are met.

The agreement between the clubs could be sorted out quickly as the report states Luiz is ‘very close to joining’ the Premier League club.

Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangaré is on the exit ramp and Luiz’s arrival would push him out of the door.

The 27-year-old Ivorian’s profile suits Tudor and Juve could consider signing him on an affordable deal. The report adds Sangaré could be part of the deal that will take Luiz to the English club.
