Fernandes''transfer wish'is set to be granted by Man United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has said that his club need to add "one or two players more" to their squad during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have boosted their attack with the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, while Diego Leon has arrived from Cerro Porteno, with the teenager making a big impression on the club's US tour.

Man United won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series courtesy of a record of two wins and one draw, beating West Ham United and Bournemouth before drawing 2-2 with Everton on Sunday night.

Fernandes was critical of his side's "lazy" performance against Everton and called for "one or two players more" to be added to the squad before the transfer window closes for business.

The Man United captain is set to be granted his wish, with the 20-time English champions seemingly closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig centre-forward Benjamin Sesko.

Fernandes demands "one or two players more" at Man United

"It's been positive. It's been positive to be together to create a bond between the players. It's been important for developing how we want to play and getting the new players involved too," Fernandes told Sky Sports News.

"We didn't want to finish in this way. Our performance wasn't the best and we were a little bit lazy today. We want to avoid that because with laziness you can pay at any moment.

"It's improving. But it's not the place it needs to be. I don't want to take a dig at anyone but the club is doing the best they can in terms of the financial situation they talk about.

"But it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here, more quality to get everyone to step up a little more to get to the XI, and I think that is what the club are trying to do. Hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that."

Will Man United sign any further players after Sesko?

Man United will hope to secure the signing of Sesko this week before turning their attention to other targets, and it is believed that two more players could arrive before the transfer window closes for business.

Indeed, the Red Devils are said to be looking to bring in a goalkeeper and a central midfielder, but it remains to be seen how much money is in the budget for those potential deals.

Man United have managed to remove Marcus Rashford's substantial salary from their budget by loaning him to Barcelona, but Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia are all still at the club.

Sales of Sancho, Antony and Garnacho could potentially bank Man United in the region of £75m, but the Red Devils have thus far been unsuccessful in their attempts to move them on.
