The Cleveland Browns recently confirmed the belief that seemed to be permeating the Browns’ fanbase that rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was at the bottom of the pecking order when it came to the quarterbacks on the roster, listing the former Colorado Buffaloes gunslinger as fourth on the first unofficial depth chart of the season.
After the release of the depth chart, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III was not afraid to get honest about what he thinks is happening in Cleveland in regard to the young quarterback.
“Shedeur Sanders is being set up to fail in Cleveland,” Griffin wrote online, according to Awful Announcing. “But God’s got him showing out even with limited reps.”
Fans reacted to Griffin’s take on social media.
“Forgive them if they dont put their franchise in the hands of a rookie who was pick #144,” one fan wrote sarcastically.
“I’ve been at camp just about everyday and can say that I believe Shedeur will be a very good QB in the NFL. Patience isn’t a bad thing. Have we seen young QB’s been set up for failure by playing too early before?” someone else added.
“Shedeur is fools gold… the reports show he’s doing well with his reps becuase Cleveland wants some one to take the bait and trade. The media is making him more valuable than he is,” another person wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can overcome the long odds and win the starting job.
