Report: Fresh Tyler Dibling update may indicate Southampton's position amid Everton transfer saga

Southampton are doing all they can to ensure that Tyler Dibling remains at St. Mary’s for the 2025/26 Championship season.

Everton have been relentless in their bid to bring the teenager to Merseyside this summer, with the Toffees hitting a hurdle in their pursuit of the versatile winger.

Also able to play in central midfield, Harrison Armstrong could be the perfect replacement for the Saints, but they remain keen on keeping hold of their young star for as long as possible.

However, a new update may suggest that a move away from Southampton could be coming in the next few days.

Tyler Dibling is training away from the rest of the Southampton squad

After impressing in the Premier League in a very poor Saints side last season, Dibling has been on the radar of Everton throughout this summer, but they have failed in their advances so far.

Nevertheless, Jack Rosser has now reported that the 19-year-old is not training with his Southampton teammates and is instead on his own programme.

He did not feature against Girona in pre-season due to injury, but he played for an hour against Brighton & Hove Albion in a behind-closed-doors game at the weekend. The two sides drew 2-2.

Question marks remain over his future, and with Southampton facing Wrexham at 12:30pm in their first Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon, supporters will be hoping for a positive conclusion to the saga soon.

The Saints have every right to extend this transfer saga

While there is no denying that a conclusion must be found, the Saints are keen to keep hold of Dibling, as he does have a huge amount of potential.

They will need all the strength that they can muster in the battle for the Championship title, and after losing key players such as Aaron Ramsdale, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Samuel Amo-Ameyaw already, selling another ace would be an issue.

Southampton have a storied history of bringing through young stars and Dibling has the potential to be one of the best in the last five years.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see Will Still holding out for the teenager and Everton may have to break the bank to capture their man.
