An up-and-coming member of the youth ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has this week brought a close to his time on the club’s books.
The player in question? Eloi Gómez Saus.
Gómez, for his part, is a 16-year-old midfielder, who generally operates in a deep-lying role.
The starlet’s many talents, though, mean he is also more than capable of filling a more orthodox role in the middle of the park, or even a full-back berth.
Gómez has long been considered something of a gem at La Masia, a potential future first-team player in the making.
In turn, it no doubt came as a blow for those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou to learn of their engine room prodigy eyeing a move elsewhere.
