Liverpool have entered the battle for Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, according to reports.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the 20-year-old over the past few days, but TBRFootball claim that Arne Slot’s side and Newcastle also hold an ‘interest” in the talented youngster.
Jacquet has already been compared to William Saliba. He was born in the same suburb of Paris, plays the same position and shows similar composure in possession.

However, Rennes are reluctant to let the defender leave this summer, with TBR reporting that the Ligue One side have made it known to potential suitors that he is “not for sale.”

Having grown frustrated in their efforts to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team have switched their attention to different options.
Parma’s Giovanni Leoni, Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez and Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis have all been mentioned as potential targets for the Reds.
However, it looks like Jacquet’s name has been added to the list as well, even though there is expected to be a lot of competition for his signature.

Reports in the French media have claimed that Liverpool have had two bids rejected for the England international. Palace reportedly value the player between £40m and £50m, depending on which source you trust.
With Guehi now inside the final twelve months of his contract, it is felt that the Eagles are asking for too much money. The defender is said to be reluctant to force a move away from Selhurst Park, and there is now a chance that he will remain with his current team for one more season before leaving on a free transfer next year.
