Celtic fans are looking for a spark in the summer transfer window.
So far, Celtic have had an underwhelming transfer window, and it’s not ideal, especially with the Champions League qualifiers coming up this month.
Not only are those paying their money wanting more from the window, but Brendan Rodgers also wants the Celtic board to be more ambitious.
The powers that be have less than a month to prove their worth, and could they knock on the door of a former player, possibly heading for the Liverpool exit door?

Liverpool’s Ben Doak returning to Celtic?
In 2022, despite Ben Doak being handed a chance by Ange Postecoglou in the first team, he decided to leave Celtic and join Liverpool.
Fast forward to the present, and the 19-year-old has only played ten matches in all competitions for English football’s most successful club, and he could be leaving before the September 1 deadline.
Doak’s name was mentioned as a possible signing for Scotland’s most successful club on Go Radio, but whilst journalist Mark Guidi stated it would be a ‘sensational’ move, he thinks it’s simply ‘unrealistic.’
Host Paul Cooney: “A player that they all loved at Celtic, he played when he was 16, Ben Doak. We know the story. He went to Liverpool. He’s been out on loan last season. He is attracting major interest from the likes of West Ham United and Wolves. Liverpool have spent a fortune over the summer. Would they loan him to Celtic?”

Guidi responded: “If Celtic and Brendan Rodgers thought he could get Ben Doak on loan. I think he would do that all day long. That problem they have on the right-hand side, at the moment. That lack of quality.
“I don’t think that’s a reality. It looks as though Ben Doak is going to move on, and given the money Liverpool have spent. I would imagine they would need to get 2-3 sales. I know they have sold Diaz. Perhaps Ben Doak, if they know they are going to get £25 million for him, then you could see that happening and moving to another Premier League club.
“He is an eliminator. He takes fullbacks out of the game. He puts balls into the box. He is on the front foot. He’s not turning his back – if Celtic thought they could get him, it would be sensational. It would be absolutely sensational, but I just think it’s unrealistic.”
Doak after leaving Celtic
There are several Premier League clubs keen on Doak, and it seems likely that he will leave this summer, especially with Liverpool splashing the cash on the likes of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
But since Doak left Celtic, he has made his Scotland debut and also played a handful of games for the Reds, with his last appearance coming in 2023.

During that period, Doak was also on loan at English Championship side Middlesbrough, where he was managed by Michael Carrick, but now, it seems as though he is looking for a permanent home.
