Liverpool loanee Owen Beck is set for a surprise reunion with former teammate Bobby Clark at Derby County this season.

The Wales youth international, a product of the Reds’ academy, has enjoyed numerous loan spells in recent years, including stints at Dundee United and Blackburn Rovers. This summer, the 22-year-old completed a temporary move to Championship side Derby as he looks to continue his development with regular first-team football.

Now, he’s been joined at Pride Park by former Red Clark, who broke into the first team during Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield in 2023/24. Clark joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United in 2021 and made his senior debut a year later, in November 2022.

Clark featured in Liverpool’s famous Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea in 2024, as one of five young players to either start or come off the bench at Wembley. Weeks later, the midfielder scored in the Reds’ Europa League round-of-16 win over Sparta Prague, leapfrogging Trent Alexander-Arnold to become the youngest player to score for Liverpool in European competition.

His career took a different turn last summer when Arne Slot replaced Klopp in the Anfield dugout. Clark followed former assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders to RB Salzburg in Austria on a permanent deal, but made just 25 appearances across all competitions.

His league minutes were limited, starting only seven games during that time. The 20-year-old has now returned to England, and while reports had linked him with a move back to former club Newcastle, he has now officially been unveiled as Derby's ninth signing of the summer window.

Derby finished 19th in the Championship last term and are managed by former Birmingham City boss John Eustace, who was appointed in February this year.
